Restaurant Management Aide
  • Help to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of a restaurant, bar, cafeteria or other food or beverage service
  • Learn to determine the type of services to be offered and how to implement operational procedures
  • Understand the method used to recruit staff and oversee staff training
  • May assist with setting staff work schedules and monitoring staff performance
  • Exposure to inventory control, monitoring of revenues and modifying procedures and prices
  • Observe how to resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Observe how arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies are negotiated
  • May observe how arrangements with clients for catering or use of facilities for banquets or receptions are handled and negotiated

Hotel Personnel
  • Learn to make and confirm reservations with hotel patrons
  • Transmit and receive messages, using telephones or telephone switchboards
  • Assist guests throughout all stages of the their stay
  • Assist with guest registration and assign rooms accordingly
  • Assist coordination with housekeeping department in keeping room status reports up-to-date and coordinate requests for maintenance and repair work
  • Assist in the cleanliness of the lobby and common areas, such as restocking supplies

Front of Restaurant

Front of Restaurant
  • Observe and assist in the organization of marketing activities, such as promotional events and discount schemes as required
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of menus
  • Observe and participate in the operation of the restaurant as required
  • Assist front of house staff and provide them with feedback
  • Greet customers and assist with organizing table reservations
  • Advise customers on menu and wine choices
  • Assist in the maintenance of high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • Check stock levels and order supplies as requested by management
  • Help in any area of the restaurant when circumstances dictate
  • Assist and tend the bar, prepare drinks as required
